After the success of its first Business School-Industry Interaction Conference, the NMIMS University School of Business Management is all set to roll out the 2nd Edition of this Conference on February 22 and 23, 2017 at Hotel ITC, Maratha. The theme for this year is 'Business Excellence in New Age Digital Economy'.

Rapid and unprecedented change perhaps defines the contemporary world economy. Not only has the world witnessed a shift in power from the West to the East, but business architecture across the world is being defined by accelerated adoption of key technologies like mobility, cloud computing, business intelligence, robotics, data analytics, digital interventions, disruptive business models and social media.

New models of value creation are emerging based on the principles of agility, autonomy, collaboration and flexibility. All these are transforming businesses and sparking a new wave of excellence. Excellence in leadership and skill building, excellence in entrepreneurship and wealth creation and bringing about pervasive social changes through financial inclusion are the calls of the day.

Economic growth and technology are inextricably linked. The current ecosystem is encouraging investments in technology as emerging markets ramp up their demands for technology to fuel growth, while advanced markets seek new ways to optimise costs and drive 'innovention'.

This becomes a virtuous circle, as digital technologies drive consumer income and demand, education and training, and efficient use of resources. All these in turn result in accelerated economic growth particularly in emerging markets.

Over the next few years, many sectors, including technology, telecommunications, entertainment, stress management, media, banking, retail and healthcare, will continue to be reshaped through digital transformations. Executives must, therefore, be aware of new challenges and enablers.
